WHAT IS A HOLISTIC MASSAGE? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Holistic massage is an integrative approach that combines different massage techniques, including Shiatsu, Reflexology, Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy, and Energy work. This type of massage considers the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit, aiming to promote overall well-being and address the individual as a whole, rather than just isolated physical issues.
WHAT IS THERMOTHERAPY?
Thermotherapy is the use of heat for therapeutic purposes. Applying heat to the body, through devices such as hot packs or heating pads, helps to relax muscles, improve blood flow, reduce pain, and support the body's natural healing processes.
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL RISKS TO TREATMENT?
Holistic massage with thermotherapy, like warm foot baths and hot compresses, is generally safe and beneficial for relaxation and muscle tension relief. However, heat-related risks and contraindications exist; see the link below for details. A health assessment will be conducted before treatment, and client comfort levels will be checked throughout the session.
WHAT IS FOOT REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology involves applying pressure on specific points on the feet. These points, known as reflex areas, are believed to correspond to different organs and systems in the body. By stimulating these reflex areas, reflexology aims to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural healing processes. It is often used to reduce stress, alleviate pain, and improve overall well being.
WHAT IS SHIATSU?
Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to promote balance and improve the flow of life force energy, known as “qi” or “ki”. It is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and aims to release tension, alleviate stress, and support the body’s natural healing abilities. Practitioners use their fingers, thumbs and palms, to apply pressure along energy pathways called meridians.
WHAT IS SWEDISH MASSAGE?
Swedish massage is often used as a foundational technique in Western massage therapy. This modality involves a variety of techniques such as effleurage (long, gliding strokes), petrissage (kneading), friction (deep circular movements), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), and vibration (rhythmic shaking). It aims to reduce muscle tension and is known for its gentle and soothing nature.
